Down with no Glimpses of class

Pakistan lost the semi-finals, this is not a headline this is catostraphic news like a Tsunami in japan to Pakistani peoples. All the nation was standing behind the cricket team and they were praying for thier success in the massive tie that has never ever seen befor. All the buildups all the talks and all the comments beside hopes were that Pakistan willn this match. People spent money and time , nation stopped thier work and glued in front of screen not in the country but also outside where ever thier is a Paksitani living in the world.

But what was the end result a pathatic medicore perfoemce depsit all the hype and expectations, the played like jokers dropping six catches, the captaincy was horrible and bowling by Umar Gul was worse thing ever seen. He is named ' The Laloo Raam' by indian fans in honopr of helping Indian team to reach the finals, on the pitch where all the medium-fast bowlers bowled well and got results he bowled like a stupid bowler playing his first game. The question to be answered why? what were the reasons if you have followed Paksitan cricket team in last six months you have never seen sych kind of bowling from him.

Captaincy on the other hand was horrible, the captain deosnot know what to do, he look like a general with his all ammunition burned. Whenevr he given advice to Umar Gul result was a four. He didnt make good bowling changes and he didnt make right batting combination. At the end his decision not to take Power play at the right time proved lethal and Paksitan lost the match.

If I can write something about Pakistan fielding or batting it would be waste of time , and nothing should be said about such kind of performance.

The problem start from the TOP if Mr.Zardari is the patron in Chief of cricket board then the result is what you can see now. I was reading a discussion and  in which some anonymous user mention that Zardari has taken money to lose the match. It could be joke or reality one can imagine what we have from the top till bottom in representaion for us. They are just mere clowns..

Interaction Design and E Learning

Human Computer Interaction Design(INFX15)
Study Reflections

My selection of the course Human Computer Interaction Design(INFX15) bases upon several reasons , from the beginning of the master program I feel that my interest is always towards the interaction design field. There are several interesting factors about the interaction design that intrigue me to become a designer in the future , therefore my first choice was to study the Human Computer Interaction courses. There was curiosity in my mind from the beginning of my computer science studies that how the devices are build , specifically about the computer devices, who designed theme and how the get the concept of new device which is never seen . Then goggled and got the name of the field "Human Computer Interaction" which is intersection of computer science, behavioral sciences, design and several other fields of studies.

This course was not offered in my bachelor courses , when I selected my master Program at university of Lund the basic motivation was to learn the subjects " Human Computer Interaction Analysis/Design". It was my interest that the first course selected in program was this HCI Analysis subject followed by the HCI design course. My initial course of HCI analysis was a nice course with a good teacher Umberto Fiaccadori , I learnt a lot from the course and the concepts about the HCI field and interaction designing were grasped by that course . It was the interest of the course that I achieved the best results and got rewarded with my handwork, my results was VG in the whole course. I got VG in my final project, VG in the final exam and full marks in assignments.

After that HCI analysis course and results my interest really roused in the HCI design course and started this course on high node. The course guide and the methods of teaching found in this course was the real beauty of this course. I am really impressed by the design of this course is it have 100% student participation in the course. The lectures ,literature seminars , the exams the team building and the all learning outcomes by this course was excellent and I have never attended so well designed course, well managed course. The course distribution and work assigned to each student and work in groups was balanced and that provided us to become interaction designers. All the design exercises, share points, beehives, seminars, guest lectures and guest lectures of JFK and others were really excellent and I learned from every part of this course.

The exam3 digital dinner design was the most interesting projects I have ever worked with, in the beginning it was difficult tasks for us and we have or specially i have not any idea how to get on with this, but the guidance of the teacher provided me to get the work start and then I put my efforts on the exam3 and learned the insights of the human computer interaction design. The idea of the digital dinner design of creating an learning portal was our team work but it was initiated by me as I was impressed by the course design of this INFX15 course. I really believe now if you have a good idea and nice outline how you involve the participant in the learning process by not loosing their interest in the learning they could learn better and get the skills by attending the course.

In conclusion about the my reflections from this course I personally thinks this course could be carried on and by minor changes like few more lectures on the design part or how the designer should approach a task . This course would be one of the best courses attended by me and it could be the best course offered in the Lund University.

Guest Lectures/Workshops

The guest lectures were really informative and interesting they provided us the motivation to work hard and to achieve our goal. The guest lecture of JFK really motivated and we carried lot of inspiration from his speech. They idea to play the videos of these and others speaker also shared the opinion about there ideas and thoughts. These all keep my interest growing in the course and it never seems that the lectures are getting boring. All The guest lectures were really good but the lecture given on the team work was the best I rate amongst all. The lecture on the team work in projects was very food lecture and we learnt how to make a team and work better in the team.

Learning with interactivity(e learning)

Learning process is natural to human beings and it could be observed how a baby learn from its surroundings , as far as academic learning is concerned we all experience the schooling where there are conventional means are carried out to teach students. The environment and surrounding are key concepts in learning process as it could be seen.

The technological advancement and learning are combined to develop new dimension to learning.

"A function of higher education is to teach students to think". In 21st centuary
thinking+reading+technolgy = information fluency

This could be seen in the time of information technology that without the IT technologies the learning is not at the level where it should be. The waste amount of information available with ease of access provides endless opportunities to get the desired skills.

From the digital dinner design, the concept of learning with interactivity is found really interesting and it is experienced by me also that the interesting concept during the learning keeps the interest of the students. As HCI designer I feel that the it is an innovation in the in designing field and we could present our concept embeded with the digital dinner metaphor. But there confusion in my mind about the acceptability of the different concepts presented by the different teams in this course with digital design metaphor.

Literature Seminars

The two literature seminars were really informative and the articles we have to study were really interesting and helped in understanding the different concepts in Human Computer Interaction Design. I found the article related to this course and from the literature seminars about the UC(Ubiquitous Computing) , the author is discussing about the UC(Ubiquitous Computing) its impact on the computing and how to shape product in order to use them easily. The discussion to design the devices by using “calm technology” found really interesting as the surrounding of person with many computer would be irritating and it should be hidden and performing their tasks.

The author discusses the use of periphery to achieve the calm technology so that there is no information overburdening. There must be no boundaries for the use of computers and we are independent in controlling them from any geographical locations. The author also discussed about the MB (Internet Multicast) and I think for UC we need some kind of interface for how to be connected to many computers and pass instruction to them. The use of calm technology world is really important when there are computers everywhere. The UC provide the opportunity to the user to use computer for performing the every day task but there are implications that it might overburdened the user , the “Calm Technology” would be very useful for them.

The other article presented in the literature was really informative and the thoughts that we got from each other during the discussions and beehives sessions provided the desired learning. The ideas and key points made by the different groups in the seminars presented the way of thinking of the designers that they perceive the idea differently on the same article.

Scientific Paper

During the course we have a good course book Löwgren, J. and E. Stolterman (2004). Thoughtful Interaction Design. MIT Press. We also have the compendium and articles to read and then also have the literature seminars on them. From these articles I got my interest in the field of UC(Ubiquitous Computing).

Ubiquitous Computing Goes Mobile
Jean Scholtz
Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), U.S.A.
Information Technology Laboratory, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), U.S.A.

This article was among the best article I had read during the course, there are several reason behind the interest in this article as it start about the ubiquitous computing and explaining what it is in, how it is around us and what the future of the UC is. The author also discusses about the future and application of ubiquitous computing. The author discusses about the human-computer interaction paradigm, The progress in the field of UC is dicusses and the answer is Certainly, but it's currently a dispersed effort. Many groups are working on aspects of ubiquitous
computing and each group has a slightly different definition. Industries are looking at the business cases for ubiquitous computing. So vertical services are being considered as a possibility. Ubiquitous computing needs an interdisciplinary group of researchers. Unlike other aspects of computer science.

The interesting comments that from the article I got and want to share with others bu my blog is following and it is all about the UC and it use in daily life

The Disappearing Computer Initiative funded by the Future and Emerging Technologies, part of the European Commission's Information Societies Technologies Program (http ://www. disappearing- computer, net/) has the following goals:

"To explore how everyday life can be supported and enhanced through the
use of collections of interacting artifacts. Together, these artifacts will form new people-friendly environments in which the computer-as-we-know-it has
no role. The aim is to arrive at new concepts and techniques out of which future applications can be developed. Specifically, the initiative focuses on three
inter-linked objectives:

- Developing new tools and methods for the embedding of computation in everyday objects so as to create artifacts.

- Research on how new functionality and new use can emerge from collections of interacting artifacts.

Ensuring that people's experience of these environments is both coherent and engaging in space and time."

This article has the motivation for me to work in the field of UC in HCI and become a designer and prodeuce a quality work and research. The reasrech was carried out by the prestigious

Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), U.S.A.

The author also dicussed about the use of technology and UC when it goes mobile in the miltary use, this is an interesting becuase the warfare is becoming more technological and the US is using the soldier as he is surrounded by the sensors receiving the data and the transmitting it to the centeral locations.

My personal contribution

During the course I read many artciles , visisted web sites , downloaded slides and made presentations a part from writting many pages. Th articles and the web sites are really interesting resource and they could be benifit the future students studying this course
